installation hangs phase 2

Installation hangs on Phase 2

Hello all.
I am trying to install Windows Vista Build 5270 from the downloaded DVD-ISO from MSDN and the installation stalls (when the progress is just past the period "." after the word time).
Has anyone else experienced the installation stalling? What did you do?

You should just be able to restart your computer and it kick off from nearly-where it left off. OK so it does say "Do not restart your computer" which is fair enough, but if that doesn't work, try it on a different partition. If that fails, it's dodgy media.

It could simply be hardware detection. How long is this hang going on for during the installation process? It took up to 1 hour to install on my system. Like Zack said, it could be the DVD you burnt it to or just a bad burn. Try burning and restart setup. What size partition are you installing it on, the recommended minimum is 10.5 GBs. -- Andre Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta FAQ for MS AntiSpy http://www.geocities.com/marfer_mvp/FAQ_MSantispy.htm

Thanks guys. I restarted the machine and left it installing overnight only to see an error instead of a hang this time. The error is
"Problem Signature: Problem Event Name: WinSetupDiag01 Report Signature 01: winmain_idx03 Report Signature 02: 5270 Report Signature 03: 0 Report Signature 04: 1 Report Signature 05: 4 Report Signature 06: 0 Report Signature 07: Ultimate Report Signature 08: X Report Signature 09: 30053 Report Signature 10: 30053"
By the way, the partition is 38 GB. I guess I will try to burn the DVD again and see if that helps. Let me know if you have seen this before or have any other suggestions.
Take care.
